Playtime!

Riley loves playing night night with, well anybody really. She drags down the big pillow off the couch and get my "fish" housecoat to use as her blanket. She tells you, "night night" and once you lay your head down on the pillow, she lays down too and covers up with her blanket. Sometimes she makes her babies take a night night nap too.

Scary Day

On Friday, September 26th, Riley had a febrile seizure at daycare. I had just gotten home from grocery shopping when the daycare called and told me she had a fever and had vomited twice. I was on my way to the daycare when Amy called and asked me where I was. I pulled up to the daycare just as Amy was getting there, and an Ambulance. I walked in and was told that Riley had just had a seizure. She was in a deep sleep and totally limp. I picked her up and just started crying. We took her by ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Brenham. We were barely on the edge of Hempstead when Riley's leg started twitching. The EMT banged on the glass and yelled, "UPGRADE." We got to the hospital in 8 minutes (it usually takes about 20 minutes to get there). The whole time Riley just slept. She didn't make any noise until they tried to start an IV. When we got to the hospital, they were able to give her some Tylenol and Motrin and blotter her with cool, wet towels. They drew blood, did a chest x-ray and throat swab. We found out she had strep throat, and that's what caused the fever. That combined with playing outside in the heat made her fever spike fast. It was a scary day, probably the scariest day of my life. Today is Sunday (2 days later) and she's feeling better but still running some low grade temps off and on. She's been playing pretty good today despite feeling yucky.

Time to read?

I don't know why, but for some reason Riley decided to read twinkle, twinkle little star while trying to go tee tee. She looked so cute with her big book on her big girl potty. She's doing pretty good with the whole potty training thing. She still hasn't figured out that she needs to go poop in the potty too. She usually doesn't even tell us when she poops, but if she accidently pees, she grabs her diaper (pull-up) and says, "tee tee." It's a bit frustrating at times, but it's so great when she does it right. She gets rewarded with lots of praise, hugs, and kisses.

Opening Day

Opening Day of Dove Season and, of course, Paul has to go hunting. Chad came out and stayed the night. The got up early the next morning and went way out (in the backyard) and got some birds. I guess that's one of the perks of living in the country. Pappy came over too and shot a few. This picture was taken after they got finished hunting, and they were getting ready to clean the birds. Riley and Sidney got to see the them. Riley was actually pretty excited about it, but Sidney didn't care too much. It's a cute picture of the daddy's with their girls doing what they love.

Riley's 2nd Birthday Party!

Riley had lots of fun at her 2nd birthday party. Lots of friends and family came out to spend the day with her. She loved playing in the moonwalk and opening all of her presents. She got lots of cool new toys and clothes. It was so hot outside that day, but the kids didn't seem to mind. We had plenty of cold drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers to enjoy. Riley had a fairy princess cake, which fell apart on the way home from HEB in Katy. I managed to make it look presentable. Thanks to everyone who came to her party.

Ellen Trout Zoo 8/10/08

We went to Calvin's Art show in Beaumont on Saturday August 9th, then we drove up to Sam Rayburn and ended up staying in Lufkin for the night. Then next day, we went to the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin. We don't know why, but it was free that day. It was a small zoo, but a good one.
