Happy Halloween!!!

My little Champ Bear!!!

We went trick or treating in Bellville at the Briarwood Subdivision. Riley had a good time going from house to house. Toward the end of our run, she started to understand that people were putting candy in her basket when she held it up for them. We also went to see Aunt Amy and Uncle Peanut and Mimi and Pappy. She got lots of compliments on her carebear costume.

Morgan Family Reunion

Today we went the the Morgan Family Reunion (this is Paul's moms side of the family.) It was at Washington on the Brazos State Park in Washington, Texas. Riley was the youngest Morgan descendant in attendance, so she won a prize. She got a stuffed puppy (which we named Rowdy after Tim and Ashley's new puppy), and she got a $5 gift card to McDonald's. After all of the "official business" was done, we went out and explored the park. It was an absolutely beautiful day to walk the nature trails. Washington is the birthplace of Texas, and the park has a museum filled with facts and artifacts about Texas. In one of the pictures in the slide show below you can see Paul and Riley standing in front of Independence Hall. This is where the Declaration of Independence was signed. We walked through the park, down to the Brazos River and around to the pond. Riley fell asleep at one point in her stroller, but she was still able to see most of the sights. It was such a great day to be outside.

Fall Festival October 25, 2008

Hollye invited us to the fall festival in her neighborhood. They had 4 different moonwalks, a petting zoo, hayride, dunking booth and a band. And that was just outside. Inside they had alot of games for the kids and an area for the kids to pet snakes. I was shocked that Riley actually pet the snake. She wouldn't pet the little horse, but that snake was ok to touch. Yikes!!! I think she ended up having the most fun on the playground. When we first got there, they had us fill out a ticket for the raffle. We ended up leaving at about 6:30, and Hollye called me on my cell phone and said that Paul had won something in the raffle. Unfortunately, you had to be present to win... Shucks!

Putting the grill together!

Yep, this is the grill that I won at the raffle last Friday!!! Riley helped Paul put it together today (after she woke up from her nap). He was almost finished when she woke up, so there wasn't much for her to "mess up". She handed him tools, helped with the screwdriver, and helped pick up all the trash. What a great little helper she is. She also found a new hiding spot; in the storage compartment of the grill. She was very proud of herself for a job well done.

Having fun in the tub!

Riley loves playing in the tub, even after all of the water is drained out. She hates to get out. In the video below, Paul had turned on the cold water, and she started drinking from her hand and trying to give us some water too. She hasn't figured out how to cup her hand to make it work, so Paul had to help her.

Daddy's socks!

Riley struggled to get her daddy's socks on, but she finally got one of 'em!

API Bass Tournament 2008

This weekend we went camping at Lake Somerville (10/10/08-10/12/08). Paul and his dad, Roy, were fishing in the bass tournament. They came in 8th place, and each of them won a fishing rod. The tournament pays up to the sixth place, so they almost made it. Paul got the hourly big bass for the 12-1 o'clock hour and won $100.00. Mark and Todd came in 11th place, and they each won fishing tackle boxes. The night before the tournament was the calcutta and raffle. Paul bought 20 raffle tickets and got five free because we donated a toy. He gave me 5 bucks to buy tickets, so I put three in for the grill, one in for a pink camo gift basket, and one in for a canopy. I WON THE GRILL!!! He was being greedy and didn't win anything. Ha Ha. Riley got an official "I caught one at the API bass tournament" t-shirt, and also got to pick from a bunch of toys. She ended up with a set of silver pots and pans, a my little pony, and a shark bubble blower. Score!!! She stayed up til 11 pm on Friday night, but she must of known there was more fun to come on Saturday because she woke up at 6:15am. I so wanted to sleep in. On Saturday, while the guys were fishing, we went with Angie and Tricia to Brayden's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in Katy (long drive). After the b-day party, we went back to Somerville to the weigh-in, then went on a boat ride, then carved pumpkins by the lake. On Sunday, we started packing up then went to eat a big steak at Country Inn 1 in Somerville. If you're hungry for an awesome steak, look it up. A word of advise, Paul and I always split the SMALL steak, that's how big it is. We had a good weekend.

Injured!

We were at the lake no more than 30 minutes when I walked into a post (of all things) and injured myself. I didn't really hurt that bad, so I thought it just ripped my shorts. Then I saw the blood and pulled up my shorts leg and saw it was a pretty good cut. Good news though... I can still walk!

Natural Bridge Caverns 10/5/08

Today we went to San Antonio to Natural Bridge Caverns and the wildlife ranch with Aunt Angie and Cousin Tricia. Riley loved the cave after she got used to the darkness. She kept looking around for the bats. There were no bats, but she heard the tour guide say there used to be bats in the cavern. After the caverns, we went to the wildlife ranch. At the wildlife ranch, she kept calling for the animals to come eat by saying, "Animal...Here" She would dig out a little bit of food (making a mess) and call 'em over. Once they came up to the car, she got real excited (jumping and screaming). On the video, we were trying to feed the ostrich and he tried to eat my camera. I took off before he could eat me. It reminded me and Angie of when we were kids. Our dad used to take us to a wildlife ranch in Waco. One time, the ostrich tried to eat my dad's watch, and the one on the other side of the truck managed to eat my grandma's earring. (She wore clip-ons!)Photobucket

Houston Childrens Museum 10/4/08

Today we took Riley to the Houston Childrens Museum. There is a lot of stuff there for little ones to do, lots of things for them to touch. She had lots of fun. We had originally planned to go to Lake Houston for the day, but the parks were all closed (I guess from Hurricane damage, there were lots of trees down).
