Longhorn Cavern and Inks Lake State Park

The day before Mother's day, we went to Longhorn Cavern and Inks Lake State Park. We had a quiet picnic at the park, let Riley swing a bit, then we went swimming in the Devils Waterhole. We spent the whole weekend in the Hill Country just finding stuff to do.

4th of July

On the fourth of July, we went to watch the fireworks display at the Hempstead City Park. They had a pretty good show this year. Riley loved the fireworks, she didn't take her eyes off of them. She started saying, "Whoooo, bang!" towards the end of the show. Kim and Nicolas went with us, but Nicolas didn't like the fireworks as much. He spent most of the night with his face buried in Kim's chest. On Saturday, the 5th, we had a BBQ at our house. Paul cooked chicken, sausage and brisket. I did my part and bought potato salad and macaroni salad. The kids had a good time playing in the pool until the storm came through. The wind was nice, but after the rain it was pretty humid.

Riley's Surgery

Riley had her surgery to have tubes put in her ears and adenoids removed on Friday, July 11, 2008. She was very nervous, but she did really good. She was scared until she got the la-la medicine (then she was just plain goofy.) We were also very nervous because they had to put her under general anesthesia. I was so happy to see her in the recovery room.
She was a little cranky all day friday, but saturday she played better than ever.

Father's Day 2008

The day before Father's Day, we went to Salado Creek and Pace Park in Salado, TX. We walked through the creek and threw rocks. It was way to cold to swim. We went to the park and let Riley slide. On Father's Day (June 15th) we went to the Austin Zoo, which was actually closer to Johnson City than Austin. Riley had a good time seeing all of the animals. She loves animals. We saw a huge peacock, but for some reason that picture didn't upload... oops! We got to ride the train through the hill country too. I guess she's allergic to cedar trees too just like daddy because she had a runny nose the whole time we were there. That place is covered in cedar trees. We stopped in Austin at a Mexican/Seafood Resteraunt called Marisco's on our way home. We were the only white people there, but the food was great. Riley danced to the mariachi band and everyone loved it.

Flower Girl

On June 14th, 2008, Riley got to be the flower girl in Tim and Ashley's Wedding. She was so adorable in her flower girl dress with satin ribbon. I was going to take her to get her hair professionally done, but ended up doing it myself. I'm glad I did because she ripped the bow out three times before we even got to the wedding. Then again after the wedding, but that time she managed to completely ruin it. Oh well, it was a one time thing anyway. She didn't exactly walk down the isle like she was supposed to. I walked her in and put her down so she could go, but she just decided to sit down. I tried a few times to stand her up, but she wouldn't walk. I ended up having to carry her down the isle, which is something that I definitely did not want to do. But once we sat in our seats, she was perfectly quiet through the whole wedding. Amazing...

Bubblicious

One day when we got home from the doctors office, Riley was restless and wanted to play. We went outside and blew bubbles. She had so much fun running through the bubbles and trying to catch them. I thought these were some great pics. Enjoy! My girl... bubblicious

Riley's First Fishing Trip

Memorial Day Weekend 2008. We went to Somerville Lake camping with Dad, Pam, Vic, Myra and Gavin. We had lots of fun. Riley got to go out on the boat fishing with Daddy for the very first time. She was fine as long as the boat wasn't moving, but as soon as we took off, she got cranky. Paul caught a few small bass, and Riley got to "pet" them. She loved it. We went back to the campsite to eat lunch and while we were gone someone decided to siphone the gas out of the boat. So, that was a bummer.
